You got the picture...I am hard at it in my studio here in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
After spending many years doing day work in the ranch lands of Brothers, Oregon where there were lots of horses and cowboys, and wildlife was abundant, I moved to the Southwest Desert of Arizona in the Tucson and Wickenburg areas where ranches and history were made.
Living in these areas, riding horses and day working for various ranches in Oregon and Arizona has given me a knowledge of life that most of our younger generation will never know, including the infamous "OUT HOUSE" or setting a water tank with a gin pole.
In the Southwest I learned what the artist expression 'CUTTING EDGE OF LIGHT' meant. The starkness of the desert makes one soften your brush. Colorado is fabulous for painting the beauty of life, including the ranch lands here in Pagosa. There is nothing more beautiful than Indian summer, with snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains and round-up time.
I hold a degree in art from ICS and presently do shows in Colorado, I have works in galleries in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Pennsylvania. Most of my work is in private collections in the United states, Germany, Japan and England. I am a member of the Wildlife Artist Netlink.
As all artists, I painted in oils, water colors and acrylics. In 1995 I ran head on into a new concept of art..Painting on Rock..but not just any rock. I use marble, agate, jasper, petrified wood and numerous other stones from all over the world.
Each stone tells its own story from the design found in its facial features. The stone has become "my canvas" and my painting may now vary from landscapes and animals, to marine life or Western/Indian Life Styles. This new "canvas" opened a window for creativity and color, which keeps my imagination working over-time. To me, STONE IS NATURE'S STORY BOOK. Stone is something durable and permanent in our "Plastic World". It is my desire as an artist to capture everything nature and the outdoor life would say to me. As an artist, I can paint myself anywhere, doing anything from cowboying, to rodeo, to scuba diving. or on safari in Africa. I am so thankful for the Lord blessing me with artistic abilities.
My studio is in my home, which I share with my wonderful supportive husband Lee, and 2 tanks of tropical fish. Life is good when you take the time to enjoy it.
