Ducks on the Wing
July 25, 2011
This piece of stone was perfect for ducks on the wing. When I looked at it, I saw sky and clouds and water all mixed in the stone. If you have a pond nearby, do take some time and sit and watch these wonderful birds as they take off and land. They are so much fun just to observe dabbling in the water. These guys took off for Washington and will be available at the Denver Gem and Mineral Show in September. If you are interested in this piece, please contact me. American Golden Finch
The American Gold Finch is a welcome sight at all bird feeders. The brilliant color of yellow glistens in the sun in contrast to their beautiful satiny black and white markings on their wings. These little nuggets of gold are acrobats at the feeders and watching them cling to weeds and thistles is something that captivates your heart and soul. These little finches will also feed on the ground underneath your feeders. They fly with a jazzy little bounce and often sing on the upbeat of the wing pattern drawing attention to themselves.
I place new seeds in our window feeder and we were blessed with 3 pairs of finches this spring.
I painted this male on a dark brown piece of Brazilian Agate approximately a 5″ round. Upon completion of this bird, he promptly made wing to Damselfly Gallery located in Midway Kentucky. This charming gallery is a must on your list if you visit Kentucky. Price is $75.00 . Contact me if you are interested in having this Gold Finch adorn your art collection, especially if you a bird lover. My website www.livingrelaxedlifestyles.com has more information available about this specie of birds. To return to Home page, please click on Wildlife Paintings. Thank you.
